Effect of multi-stage heat treatment on mechanical properties and microstructure transformation of Ti–48Al–2Cr–2Nb alloy

Refining the grain size of γ-TiAl alloys to improve their strength and ductility is academic interest. Thus, we report a multi-stage heat treatment method consisting solution treatment, cyclic annealing, short aging refine microstructure Ti–48Al–2Cr–2Nb alloy. The solution-treated was refined from 1100 191 μm by promoting feathery γ packets. Fine duplex grains below 23 were obtained through discontinuous coarsening, which accelerated in cyclic-heat-treated owing high driving force resulting presence packets fine interlamellar spacing. Through at single α α2 + fields, tailored structure with 24 spacing 42 nm achieved. refinement, tensile elongation improved 697 MPa 2.1%, respectively, compared those conventional forged specimen (622 1.3%, respectively). We believe that our study provides simple pathway alloys.
